The newest member of the RX family of post production tools, RX Final Mix plug-in is built specifically for audio post production professionals and video editors. The Dynamic EQ and True Peak limiter are optimized with intelligent DSP for both maximum sound quality and True Peak compliance with the latest loudness standards (BS.1770-2/3, EBU R128, etc.). This processing delivers reactive, program-dependent, and more transparent mix results, giving you loud and impactful mixes with on-spec True Peak levels. Ensure clearer dialogue, maximum sonic impact, and more accurate mix compliance with RX Final Mix!

Equalizer
The Dynamic EQ feature of the Equalizer module is essentially an EQ with the ballistics of a compressor. You can control Gain, Frequency, Q, and the shape of the up to eight nodes. Surround sound, program-dependent EQ provides intelligent dynamic control over EQ adjustments. Each node can operate in a dynamic mode, in which the shape and depth of the EQ curve will change and adapt in response to the audio it’s adjusting. This allows an EQ adjustment to behave differently in different scenarios—for example a large explosion, a sudden gunshot, or a dialogue sibilance reduction.

A user-definable threshold sets the point at which the dynamic ballistics begin to kick in. The incoming frequencies located at the EQ node/band is used to trigger the amount of EQ applied. The further it falls above or below the threshold, the greater the adjustment will be. The attack and release times for the trajectory of this dynamic behavior scale in accordance to the type of audio passing through. For example, it will react differently to a sibilant dialogue area as it would a low-frequency LFE burst.

Accentuate sections of the spectrum with the Dynamic EQ – Expand mode. For example, add more impact to effects like explosions with a dynamic low shelf. When the amount of low-end energy hits the defined Threshold, the shelf can boost. But when the amount of energy is below the Threshold, the low shelf isn’t touching the mix.

Limiter
Three user-definable characters (Clear, Smooth, Thick) allow for more direct control over the adaptive, transparent nature of the limiting algorithm, which is tuned specifically for post production type audio. The True Peak, BS.1770-⅔ compliant limiter provides intelligent digital loudness maximization of the signal, while ensuring there are no True Peak overflows to keep your mixes compliant to delivery specs.

The processor is designed for neutral or transparent limiting. It does so by analyzing the incoming source material and leveraging a psycho-acoustically pleasing algorithm, reacting quickly to transients and reacting more slowly to steady, lower frequency tones. In doing so, it is optimized to preserve transients and present them more clearly in the output signal, even when aggressive limiting is taking place.

Stem and Master Bus Processing
RX Final Mix provides up to 7.1 surround support with control over LFE channel processing, for use on both stems and master busses. If you’re delivering discrete stems, you may wish to use the frequency control and True Peak limiting of RX Final Mix on those stems. However, when using RX Final Mix on your master bus, this post-stem processing will change the relationship between the stems and the master, meaning that the stems sum will no longer equal the mix. As such, we’d recommend not using RX Final Mix on the master bus if you’re delivering stems. If you’re delivering a final stereo or surround mix without stems, RX Final Mix contains specific master bus presets designed to prepare your mix for optimum sound quality, and even specific playback scenarios such as video streaming.

Blue Cat’s PatchWork is a universal plug-ins patchbay that can host up to 64 VST plug-ins into any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) in one instance. It is possible to chain effects in series or create up to 8 parallel chains that can be activated independently. This lets you create your favorite effects or instruments configurations within the plug-in, without the need for multiple busses. These configurations can be saved as presets and recalled instantly, or shared with multiple DAWs, using any plug-in format (full list below). Despite the name, you can forget about wires or cables: configuring plug-ins routing is as simple as adding or removing a row or a column in the rack’s matrix.

For each plug-in slot, latency compensation, presets management, undo/redo integration, and individual plug-in bypass are included for optimal operation. The plug-in also stores the position of the window for each plug-in so that the layout is restored with your session or saved with presets.

The plug-in is available as an audio effect or a virtual instrument so that it can be inserted on any type of track, with up to 8 audio channels.

This new instrument is composed of two parts:

– An electronic chanter (under development) which will capture the piper’s play and pilots the software to trigger the corresponding notes.

The Lowender plug-in is a subharmonic synthesizer reminiscent of classic analog dual-band bass enhancer circuits. More than a simple EQ, the Lowender creates new bass content from your existing audio material. From post-production houses to disco floors, from high-powered live sound to rock, dub, and metal studio productions, the characteristic rumble of the subharmonic synthesizer has been an engineer’s best-kept secret for years. Now, finally, you can get those low lows from within your favorite DAW application!.


While taking the classic “Boom Box” sound as its core, the Lowender expands on the concept in several ways. First, it offers switchable frequency ranges, so that the low end frequencies generated can be selected to fit the program material.

Second, the generated subharmonics pass through a gate tailored for low frequencies, which is useful for cleaning up unwanted bass rumble (e.g. from between kick drum hits in a drum loop).

Third, the Lowender passes the bass material through an output section comprised of an overdrive circuit and a lowpass filter. Driving or compressing the newly generated low frequencies is essential for evening out their dynamics, and will allow them to sit well in a mix. The variable lowpass filter is provided to shave off the higher harmonics of the overdrive and create a smooth low end – or you can leave some of them in, for raspier bass sounds.

Drum Gator is a unique noise gate and envelope shaper designed specifically for drums and percussion. It is available for Windows platforms in VST (32 bit 64 bit) and AAX formats and Mac OSX in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats.

WHAT’S WRONG WITH NOISE GATES?
Traditional noise gates are triggered when the signal level reaches a threshold set by the user. Gates triggered in this way may chop off the initial onset of the drum hit, creating noticeable artifacts. These artifacts vary depending on the intensity of each drum beat. Also, in order to make sure that all drum hits are allowed through the gate, the user may be tempted to lower the threshold. This can have the side effect of allowing unwanted signals through the gate. The result is a tradeoff, with some drum hits gated out while some unwanted signals are passed through.

WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT DRUM GATOR?
Drum Gator does not suffer from the issues experienced with traditional noise gates. It uses a transient detection algorithm combined with spectral analysis to provide an almost uncanny ability to remove only the unwanted drum hits while preserving other program material. It can also do things that are not possible with any other noise gate, opening up creative possibilities that were previously unavailable.

ACCURATE BEAT DETECTION
Drum Gator is triggered by a transient detection algorithm which monitors the rate of increase in the initial onset of the drum hit. This algorithm makes Drum Gator much less susceptible to the varying intensities of individual drum hits than conventional gates. It can accurately detect the initial onset of a drum hit resulting in a much more natural sound as the gate opens.

FREQUENCY SELECTIVE OPERATION
Drum Gator categorizes individual drum hits based on their spectral (frequency) content and provides a separate level control for each category. For example, you can reduce the snare drum “bleed” from a kick drum track or remove it completely by setting its level control to zero. Drum Gator doesn’t depend on the snare drum bleeding through at a lower level than the kick drum in order to remove it. If the signal bleeding through matches the spectral content of the snare drum, it can be removed regardless of its level. This approach is superior to the side chain tuning used by conventional gates and virtually eliminates false triggers.

TRANSIENT AND ENVELOPE SHAPING
Enhance or soften transients. Soften the hi-hat while simultaneously adding “snap” to the kick drum. Remove the excess reverb from the tail of the snare. Drum Gator can easily do all these things and more.

CREATIVE CONTROL
The “Closed” control allows you to control the amount of signal passed through when no transients are present, allowing for transient softening as well as “reverse gating” effects. The “Floor” control functions much like the “Range” control of conventional gates, allowing you to add some dry signal back into the mix.

LEARNING MODE
There’s an almost infinite variety of drum and percussion sounds out there, and each instrument has unique spectral characteristics. You can easily train Drum Gator to recognize and process the unique spectral characteristics of your program material. You are not limited to built-in spectral filters.
